Effect on the city

The celebration of the Olympic Games in 1992 in Barcelona had an enormous impact on the urbanism of Barcelona. This new changes make Barcelona one of the most visited cities in Europe after Paris, London and Rome. Also these improve the quality of life and tourism. For the Olympics in Barcelona was build the Olympic Village and the Olympic Port a decayed neighborhood. El Prat airport was modernized and expanded as two new terminals were opened, a new train was created around the city, these two factors helped to reduce the density of the traffic and also to give a great deal to the tourists. Also as they were expecting a great amount of tourists they built new hotels and old ones were refurbished.

Mascot

The official mascot was Cobi. Cobi was designed by Javier Mariscal 1950. The mascot was not in sale for the public until it was 1987, the name was assigned by the Barcelona Olympic Organising Committee (COOB).
